What's Brewing?

So what's brewing at Tap East? Well, our new brewer Jonny Park has been hard at work tweaking some Tap East favourites as well as working on a brand new beer soon to be hitting the taps at the bar.
On it's way we have a new batch of Coffee in the Morning alongside a Tap East IPA, this time brewed using Chinook and Centennial hops. We also have a slightly different version of our much loved Tonic Ale racked, which has been dry hopped in the cask with Galaxy, instead of the Citra hops we usually use. But our new brew that we're most excited about is a Black IPA. Currently sitting in fermentation vessel 3, the Black IPA has been dry hopped with Chinook and Bramling Cross and is tasting pretty good at this early stage. Definitely one to look out for in the coming weeks!

Tap East Brew Pub Week 21st - 27th April

From 21st - 27th April Tap East will be celebrating the Brew Pub. This means that for the duration of the week we will be dedicating as many of our taps as possible to serving beer crafted at some of Britain's best breweries, who like ourselves, are situated within a pub or bar. We have made a concerted effort to try to source beer from a wide variety of different Brew Pubs, from the local to the further afield. From well known favourites to the new and upcoming. Throughout the week you can expect to sample beers from the likes of Shiny Brewery (The Furnace Inn, Derby), The Barnet Brewery (The Black Horse, Barnet) Mill Green Brewery (The White Horse, Edwardstone), The Pied Bull (Chester), Peoples Pints (People's Park Tavern, Victoria Park), Canterbury Brewers (The Foundry, Canterbury), London Brewing Co. (The Bull, Highgate) and more. Not to mention that on Thursday 24th April we will be launching a very special one off brew of our own. More details of which will follow...

What's Brewing?

Some old favourites and new specialities brewing this week at Tap East. In FV 1 we have our Aussie IPA, a fairly new Australian hopped version of our India Pale Ale that has proved so popular it has quickly become a regular at the brewery tap. In FV 2 we have our American Pale Ale, and in FV 3 we have the Tap East Tonic Ale. But fermenting away in FV 4 we have a very special new beer. It is an imperial version of our famous Coffee In the Morning, which once fermented should reach nearly 9% abv. It is a parting gift from our head brewer Jim Wilson, who will be leaving us this month. The original Coffee In the Morning, which Jim first brewed at Tap East using coffee from our neighbours Grind, has now cemented itself as one of our signature brews. A dark smooth coffee flavoured stout, that has become a familiar favourite to many a Tap East regular. So we all hope that the Imperial Coffee In the Morning proves itself to be just as good, if not better!

Limehouse Wheat Beer Launch

On Thursday 20th February we will be launching a brand new Tap East Brew.

The "Tap East Limehouse Wheat" is made with British wheat and lager malts, hopped with Slovenian Savinjski Golding hops, and fermented with traditional German wheat beer yeast. Along with the addition of fresh limes and kaffir lime leaves for a bit of extra fruity flavouring.

The beer will be available exclusively on cask at Tap East from 5pm on the day. So come on down and try some!

What's Brewing

So what's brewing at Tap East this week?

Currently we have our old friend the East End Mild in Fermentation Vessel 3. As well as our Coffee in the Morning in FV1, which should be racked and ready in the next week or two. We have also had a visitor in the brewery this week from our sister bar The Rake, Michael came down to help us brew a new edition of our IPA. The India Pale Ale was hopped with Galaxy and Vic Secret, and is currently fermenting in FV2.

Next week we should be getting our brand new lime wheat beer in to casks, expect to see it launched here at Tap East on 20th Feb, but more on that later...

What's Brewing

At Tap East this week we've been brewing up a couple of old favourites, alongside a brand new recipe. In Fermentation Vessel One we have our famous Coffee In the Morning, a dark and smooth stout made with fresh ground coffee beans courtesy of our friends at "Grind". In FV2 this week we have Tonic Ale, our low strength big flavour hoppy pale ale. But it's in FV3 that we currently have our newest brew fermenting. A lime wheat beer, name TBC. Made with British wheat and lager malts, hopped with Slovenian Savinjski Golding hops, and fermented with traditional German wheat beer yeast. Not to forgot the addition of 3kg of limes and kaffir lime leaves to the two and half barrel brew. It's one not to be missed and it should be available at Tap East within the next month. So watch this space and we'll keep you posted.

Beer Launch 23/01/14 - La Lumiere Rouge

The first ever batch of Tap East La Lumiere Rouge was debuted at the Indy Man Beer Con last year. It was a young saison that had been aged in a red wine barrel for two months, and was only available on keg. On 23rd January 2014 we will be releasing a matured version of La Lumiere Rouge, having spent a total of five months aging in our red wine barrel. The beer will be available on cask for the very first time, so be sure not to miss out on this one off brew. Only a few casks remain, and when it's gone it's gone!
