Chocolate Mild Launch

To celebrate "Mild May" we will be releasing a one off version of our regular favourite East End Mild. The Tap East Mild was one of the first brews we released and has been one of our core range beers since early 2012. We are very excited then to be launching a special chocolate version this year. The special edition has been brewed with additional chocolate malts as well cocoa nibs, giving the beer that additional bitter sweet chocolate flavour. The brew itself will be available on cask from 6pm on Thursday 7th May 2015. When it's gone it's gone, so be sure not to miss out!

Long Playing Wednesdays

Here at Tap East we're not just beer lovers, we're music lovers too. That is why from now on every Wednesday we will be celebrating the LP in all it's varied forms.

We will be asking you, the Tap East customer, to pick out your favourite albums and tell us what you want to hear. Then each Wednesday at 7:30pm we will play one of your suggested records in full.

Be they old favourites, modern classics, new releases or hidden gems, we want your suggestions!

Our first Long Playing Wednesday will be next week (15th April), and as yet we have not chosen our featured album for the week, so we need your help.

Tweet us, Facebook us, or email suggestions to info@tapeast.co.uk with the subject title "Long Playing Wednesdays"

We will be announcing which of your suggested records will be featured as our debut Long Playing Wednesday album very soon...

Book Club at Tap East

On Tuesday 7th April our very own Lizzy will be hosting the first ever book club to take place here at Tap East. Liz has decided to kick things off with a classic, therefore the book under discussion for the first session will be George Orwell's Animal Farm. All are welcome. Hopefully this will turn in to a regular event for the beer loving bookworms among you.

So come along for conversation of a literary nature, and a craft beer or two.

Two Brewers Series Launch

On Thursday 2nd April we will be launching the first in our brand new "Two Brewers Series". To create this series we have been joined by our old friend Eddie Baines. A familiar face to many at Tap East, Eddie was our first ever Head Brewer, he was here when we opened back in 2011 and helped to establish some of the core beers we still brew today. He left in March 2012 but has returned to help us brew a series of one off collaborative specials.

First up is Ginger Beer'd, a 5.7% wheat beer flavoured with a kilo of root ginger. Based on one of Eddie's original recipes he teamed up with our Head Brewer Jonny Park in order to brew in our two and a half barrel kit. The result will be revealed on the 2nd April, with the first cask going on tap at 6pm. Both Jonny and Eddie (the two brewers) will be here for the launch, giving you the chance to talk water, malt, hops, yeast and ginger with the people behind the brew.

On Saturday 22nd November Boak and Bailey will be at Tap East to sign copies of their critically acclaimed book Brew Britannia: the strange rebirth of British beer; an entertaining account of how British beer got it's mojo back after the low point of the 1960s and 70s, packed with facts, stories and eccentric characters.

The perfect Christmas present for the beer lover in your life!

Boak and Baily will be at Tap East from 2pm on 22/11/14. Find out more about their book, and read their blog here:
